On July 21, 2014, Huai’an launched the reconstruction project of Guoshi (Emperor’s teacher) Tower in Ciyun Temple.

The finished Guoshi Tower will be one of the landmarks of Qingjiangpu Scenic Area in the Inner Canal Cultural Corridor.

The project is supervised by Professor WU Zhaozhao, a well-known design master of ancient landscape. The tower is a nine-story octahedral pavilion-style pagoda, and the height is 62 meters.

The Guoshi Tower of Ciyun Temple was originally built to comemorate Monk Yulin, who was the teacher of Emperor Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty.

Yulin was born in 1614, and it is the 400 anniversary of his birth this year. Ciyun Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Huai'an. In 1675, Yu Lin, who was wandering alone, stayed for the night in Ciyun Temple and died there. Thus, the temple got its new name "Ciyun Buddhist Temple" because of Yulin's arrival.
